Patio sets are the most popular of all outdoor furniture types. This is because whatever else we choose to do in our garden, the first thing we will all do is to sit and have our breakfast, lunch or dinner, or perhaps just sit and have a beer or a glass of wine.

Depending on the space you have available, and also the frequency and scale of your entertaining, you can choose patio sets to meet every requirement.
It is best if you have an area in your garden that is south or west facing to maximise the amount of sun it catches. Also closer to the house is better if you plan to use it often.

All of the above furniture is weather resistant. But it is not weather proof, particularly not British weather proof. Any of the above furniture will deteriorate if it is left out constantly in the elements, without any protection.

If you plan to store your patio set outdoors during the winter then you would be well advised to invest in a cover to protect your prized furniture from the worst of the British weather.
Constant rain, cold temperatures, wind and snow all combine to take a heavy toll on furniture. A weather proof cover will give protection from the above elements, and preserve it's good looks for much longer.
Tightly woven polyester covers are the best I have found for a number of reasons. Unlike vinyl they do not have a chemical run off, as they are coated with dioxin free water proof material. Polyester is also a breathable material, allowing any moisture that finds it's way into the furniture to evaporate off into the atmosphere.

Some patio set manufacturers now offer purpose made covers for their own furniture. This is a good idea because it will be a very good fit and will not blow open or blow off in windy weather.
Even if you do not get the manufacturers own covers, you will find that all sizes of patio sets are catered for by the wide range of covers being offered on the market.
The covers available are high quality and they give great protection to the furniture they cover. Taped seams and water proof coatings make the covers suitable for high precipitation climates such as Britain.
You can reasonably expect to find your furniture in the same great condition in the spring when you take the covers off, as you left it when you covered it up in the autumn. Covering it during the winter will ensure that your patio set serves you well and looks like new for many years.
